Luxury Kauri Resin Dining Tables: Ancient Timber, Architectural Heirlooms
To some, luxury is defined by quality alone. To others, it is the ability to own something truly unique—an object that reflects your character and carries its own story. At Everything But Ordinary, true luxury extends beyond exceptional craftsmanship. It lies in the origin of the materials, the narrative behind each design, and the quiet presence that elevates considered interiors.
Our collection is carefully curated to celebrate material rarity, architectural integrity, and one-of-a-kind pieces tailored entirely to the individual. Few pieces embody this more profoundly than Riva1920’s Kauri resin dining tables—ancient timber preserved in crystal-clear resin and reimagined as functional sculpture.

Timber With a Story Measured in Millennia
Kauri (Agathis australis) is no conventional timber. Native to New Zealand, these prehistoric giants—some towering over 70 metres—have existed since the Jurassic period. Revered by the Māori as Tāne Mahuta, “Lord of the Forest,” these trees are symbols of natural resilience and living heritage.
Today, living Kauri trees are strictly protected under New Zealand law. But beneath the wetlands lies a different legacy. Submerged by natural cataclysms over 30,000 years ago, vast Kauri trunks lie preserved beneath the earth—untouched by time, their grain fossilised yet intact, their story preserved in silence.
Recovered under strict environmental controls, these colossal timbers—some weighing over 200 tonnes—retain the qualities of freshly felled wood. Their rich, iridescent grain and fossil-like textures create a visual depth that cannot be replicated. Encased in resin, each slab becomes a sculptural surface—its organic edges and ancient contours elevated through contemporary craftsmanship.
Designed for Scale, Rarity, and Architectural Presence
These resin and wood dining tables are architectural statements—defined by scale, proportion, and material clarity. Ideal for grand residences, gallery-like spaces, or contemporary homes with flowing sightlines, these monumental pieces anchor the room with quiet confidence. Some slabs span up to 12 metres long and 2.4 metres wide—an extraordinary scale matched only by their provenance.
The Art Kauri Table by Authentic Design offers a striking expression of this philosophy—crafted in Italy from millennia-old, sustainably reclaimed Kauri, its natural fissures preserved and filled with resin. The result is a surface rich in contrast and clarity—an heirloom that transcends both category and time.

For Interiors That Honour Craft and Provenance
Beyond their aesthetic presence, Kauri resin dining tables reflect true design values: sustainability, heirloom craftsmanship, and individuality. Each piece evolves with its surroundings—the natural timber developing subtle shifts or characterful cracks over time, a living reflection of material authenticity.
For collectors, architects, or those designing homes where every detail holds meaning, a Kauri dining table offers more than function. It transforms the dining space into an experience defined by heritage, material excellence, and connection to the earth’s distant past.

The Art of Commissioning Your Own
The commissioning process is as considered as the material itself—measured, precise, and grounded in craftsmanship. Riva1920 works under government agreement to recover only subfossilised Kauri, ensuring no impact on living forests. Every few months, select slabs journey from New Zealand to Italy, where clients are invited to hand-pick their timber—either in person or via a curated photographic presentation.
A detailed visualisation follows, showcasing the resin proposal and final form, before expert craftspeople bring the design to life at Riva1920’s atelier in Cantù, northern Italy—an area renowned for its cabinetmaking heritage. The entire process takes approximately three months and results in a singular dining table: an architectural focal point that fuses ancient history, modern design, and sustainable values into one extraordinary heirloom.
