Giorgetti: A Legacy of Italian Mastery

For more than a century, Giorgetti has spoken in the language of craft. Founded in 1898 in Meda — a Lombard town where the scent of walnut shavings and the rhythm of chisels have shaped generations — the atelier has become part of Italy’s cultural fabric. Its pieces emerge through time, through patience, through the steady conviction that beauty is at its most powerful when it endures.

Wood is Giorgetti’s first voice. Hard and architectural, yet warm to the touch, it forms the foundation of a dialogue with leather, marble, glass, and metal. The Progetti armchair, born in the 1980s, codified this vocabulary: structure drawn with clarity, volumes balanced like musical notes. Later came Rossella Pugliatti’s Hug, a timber frame embracing an upholstered body, and Carlo Colombo’s Skyline sofa, its planes recalling the Milanese horizon. Different gestures, yet unmistakably Giorgetti — sculptural, poised, and measured.

In Meda, Brianza, tradition and invention exist in conversation. Giorgetti’s craftspeople coax timber into curvature, guide the saddle stitch into leather, and polish marble until its veins resemble drawings in stone. The workshop holds both memory and machinery: cabinetmakers who inherit gestures from their fathers, engineers who refine structures until they feel weightless. What results is furniture that carries the knowledge of a region devoted, for centuries, to the art of making.

Today, the atelier extends its vocabulary with the same restraint. Modular systems adapt to architecture seamlessly, mechanisms operate with discretion, upholstery remembers the body but holds its form. Outdoors, Giorgetti speaks with the same clarity: terraces, gardens, and decks shaped by proportion, material, and the intelligence of craft. Every choice is made for longevity — woods sourced with care, metals brushed to reveal tone, finishes created to invite touch. Over years, the pieces only deepen in eloquence.

To encounter Giorgetti is to see Italian design in its most architectural form. It inhabits residences, yachts, and cultural spaces not as decoration but as presence — a signal of substance, of atmosphere chosen over display. The message is consistent: grace lies where material, proportion, and patience converge.

Across its history, Giorgetti has created continuities. Heritage informs invention. Sculpture becomes function. Intimacy expands into grandeur. Each piece carries the same intent: to shape space with clarity, to reward touch with depth, to endure. The furniture sets tempo, defines edges, and leaves room for life to unfold.

This is Giorgetti’s assurance: a workshop in Meda, alive for more than a century, crafting objects that outlive seasons. Timber shaped to embrace, marble resolved to depth, leather stitched with intention — together they form an inheritance. A continuum from workshop to world, sustained by craft, articulated through time.
