Giano Footstool by Flexform
This modestly-sized ottoman has a big personality. The aesthetic integrity of the design is enhanced by craftsmanship skills steeped in the cabinetmaking tradition. The elegantly-flared lines of the ottoman’s structure – made entirely of solid Canaletto walnut or ash, available in an array of stain colors – lend the ottoman an exceptional air of visual lightness. As unique as it is sophisticated, the top is entirely hand-woven in a masterful design made from cowhide cord. The Giano ottoman is a captivating and functional piece that serves as a handy accessory to round out the living room decor.

The types of solid wood used in Flexform and Flexform Mood products are oak, ash, Canaletto walnut, crotch mahogany and also, for the MOOD collection, rosewood. These types of wood can be left natural or stained various colors (coffee, brown, walnut, cherry, teak, ebony), using a process that always allows the wood veins to remain visible. Ash belongs to the broadleaf family and the semi-hard category of wood. It is pliable, in other words, it bends but does not break. Very light in color, from ivory to almost pink, its fiber is even, fine, straight or flamed.
Flexform upholstery uses only the highest-quality real, full-grain leather that offers outstanding softness, natural pliability and plumpness. Strictly tanned in Italy, using precise, time-tested methods, the leather is first buffed (almost like sanding, to smooth the surface and prepare it for dyeing. Then the leather is aniline-dyed, using a “through-dyeing” process that allows the color to be thoroughly absorbed by the leather, even into its deepest layers. This is definitely not a surface dye that reveals the underlying color of the natural leather at the slightest scratch. Any lack of uniformity in the surface color is characteristic of natural leather and therefore should be considered one of its virtues, underscoring its natural origin and value.
