Defined by its fluid curvature and architectural poise, the D.154.2 outdoor armchair by Molteni&C reinterprets Gio Ponti’s original 1954 design for Villa Planchart as an open-air sculpture. The organic shell—moulded in high-resilience outdoor materials—echoes the gentle geometry of Ponti’s modernist language, offering both visual lightness and structural depth for luxury terraces and coastal retreats.

Crafted for longevity and tactility, the armchair features a cold-processed structural core and is upholstered in weatherproof outdoor fabrics, tailored with couture-level precision. Optional cushions and fully customisable fabrics allow the D.154.2 to adapt effortlessly to refined courtyards, poolside lounges, and architect-led gardens.

MATERIALS & DETAILS

This armchair features a fabric cover and an external structure made from high-density polyurethane resin. The internal framework consists of steel tubes and profiles. Both the seat cushions and padding are crafted from flexible polyurethane foam, enclosed in waterproof, 100% recyclable polyester fibre. The chair rests on burnished, painted stainless steel feet with plastic ferrules, and is available with a 100% polyester waterproof cover.
