The Kauri Stump coffee table by Riva1920 is carved from a cross-section of a 50,000-year-old tree, revealing the radial grain lines and voids of ancient timber. Preserved with its organic edges intact, the solid stump becomes both sculptural and geological—anchored by discreet iron feet that lift the mass with minimal interference.
Crafted in Italy from reclaimed Kauri wood sourced in New Zealand, the surface is hand-finished in natural oils to retain the wood’s tone and texture. Transparent resin can be applied to fill natural fissures, reinforcing the balance between ancestral materiality and contemporary design precision.
