A sculptural echo of mid-century elegance, the DU 55 armchair by Gastone Rinaldi—first designed in 1954—captures the fluid aesthetic of Italian post-war design with contemporary clarity. Reissued by Poltrona Frau, its enveloping silhouette rises on slender chrome-finished legs, while the contoured backrest and subtly flared arms reference the aerodynamic form language of the era.

Engineered for enduring comfort, the internal steel frame is wrapped in moulded polyurethane and supported by elastic webbing. Upholstered in Pelle Frau® leather or fine fabric, each detail reflects precision craftsmanship and heritage reimagined. This designer lounge chair brings refined character to curated interiors—equally suited to reading corners, gallery lounges, or executive suites.

MATERIALS & DETAILS

Structure features a shell and armrests in moulded rigid polyurethane foam, reinforced with a concealed metal insert for added stability and durability.

Padding includes a moulded polyurethane foam seat and a headrest cushion filled with polyurethane foam and polyester wadding for enhanced comfort.

Base crafted from solid Canaletto walnut, with protective plastic glides to safeguard floor surfaces.

Headrest is height-adjustable via a refined belt with positioning holes, located at the rear of the chair for discreet functionality.

Upholstery available in Pelle Frau® ColorSphere® (SC), Nest, Heritage, or Soul leather collections. Upholstery is fixed and not removable.

Aesthetic details include a distinctive unifying longitudinal stitch that runs across the upholstered shell, underscoring its sculptural silhouette.

This product is made to order in the Poltrona Frau factory in Italy especially for you, with a production time of 6 - 8 weeks, therefore please expect delivery within 8 - 10 weeks from the date of order.

Delivery options: United Kingdom

Standard Delivery (courier)

Standard Delivery is a courier delivery service suitable for smaller furniture items, and most lighting & accessory items. Once the items you've ordered are ready for dispatch from our warehouse, your order will be dispatched on a next day service.

This service does not include delivery into the property, assembly or unpacking. For larger items the driver may require assistance when unloading.

Platinum Delivery (white glove)

The delivery team will deliver your items to your room of choice and remove all the packaging for you. If required, all items will be assembled by the delivery team. Once the items have been received into our warehouse and are ready for delivery, our delivery team will be in touch to arrange delivery with you.

On-site installation is regrettably not available for lighting products or wall mounted goods such as, but not limited to shelving, mirrors, and pictures.

Once your order has arrived in our warehouse, and the item(s) have been quality checked, we will contact you to let you know your order is ready for collection. Please remember to bring proof of purchase with you, such as your order confirmation email.
