With its open-weave silhouette and soft radial glow, the Sparkler lantern by Poltrona Frau—designed by Kensaku Oshiro—creates sculptural punctuation for outdoor terraces, gardens, and poolside lounges. Its powder-coated aluminium frame is wrapped in 5mm hand-woven polypropylene rope, forming a lightweight yet durable cage that refracts ambient light through its patterned shell.

Powered by an 8W LED with a rechargeable lithium battery, Sparkler is available in three sizes. The small version includes a floor arch support or rope suspension for ceiling installation. Portable and weather-resistant, it transforms lighting into a tactile installation grounded in craftsmanship and contemporary outdoor design.

MATERIALS & DETAILS

This lamp features a structure made from basalt epoxy powder-coated aluminium, providing durability and a sleek appearance. The perimeter frame is intricately woven with a taupe-coloured polypropylene cord, creating a checked pattern. The LED housing, crafted from moulded plastic, is securely attached to the top of the structure. The LED itself is concealed within the top section, which includes a horseshoe-shaped handle for easy portability. Additionally, the lamp is fitted with a safety system to prevent accidental unscrewing, enhancing both its functionality and user safety.

This product is made to order in the Poltrona Frau factory in Italy especially for you, with a production time of 6 - 8 weeks, therefore please expect delivery within 8 - 10 weeks from the date of order.

Standard Delivery (courier)

Standard Delivery is a courier delivery service suitable for smaller furniture items, and most lighting & accessory items. Once the items you've ordered are ready for dispatch from our warehouse, your order will be dispatched on a next day service.

This service does not include delivery into the property, assembly or unpacking. For larger items the driver may require assistance when unloading.

Platinum Delivery (white glove)

The delivery team will deliver your items to your room of choice and remove all the packaging for you. If required, all items will be assembled by the delivery team. Once the items have been received into our warehouse and are ready for delivery, our delivery team will be in touch to arrange delivery with you.

On-site installation is regrettably not available for lighting products or wall mounted goods such as, but not limited to shelving, mirrors, and pictures.

Once your order has arrived in our warehouse, and the item(s) have been quality checked, we will contact you to let you know your order is ready for collection. Please remember to bring proof of purchase with you, such as your order confirmation email.

Meet the Designer

Kensaku Oshiro

Kensaku Oshiro was born in Okinawa, Japan, in 1977. Since 1999, after receiving a Master degree in Industrial Design at “Scuola Politecnica di Design” in Milan, he began working with several practices until 2004. He suddenly joined the design team of Lissoni Associati studio, with whom he worked until mid-2012. In the second half of 2012 he moved to London to work with BarberOsgerby.
