A sculptural benchmark in post-war Italian design, the DU 30 dining chair by Poltrona Frau—originally created by Gastone Rinaldi in 1953—captures the bold innovation of mid-century modernism. Its cantilevered silhouette, defined by a single-piece seat and backrest, is punctuated by a distinctive central cut and stitched profile, forming an architectural line that reshaped seating design.

Awarded the Compasso d’Oro in its debut year and immortalised on the cover of Stile Industria in 1954, DU 30 remains a collector’s piece of historical consequence. Upholstered in Pelle Frau® leather or refined fabric, its padded steel structure rests on slender, black-painted tubular legs—uniting heritage craftsmanship with enduring spatial clarity.

MATERIALS & DETAILS

Structure made from steel mesh, reinforced with a metal rib at the base. The shell is securely fixed to the legs through a direct screw-in system.

Padding in moulded polyurethane foam, offering consistent comfort and lasting form.

Legs crafted from bent, welded iron tubing with a textured wrinkled black finish. Black protective plastic caps preserve flooring beneath.

Upholstery available in Pelle Frau® ColorSphere® (SC), Nest, or Soul leather collections. Upholstery is fixed and not removable.

Aesthetic details include a central seam starting at the lower backrest, flowing across the seat with gentle folds, and a hand-sewn seam that defines the front for a refined, artisanal finish.

This product is made to order in the Poltrona Frau factory in Italy especially for you, with a production time of 6 - 8 weeks, therefore please expect delivery within 8 - 10 weeks from the date of order.

Delivery options: United Kingdom

Standard Delivery (courier)

Standard Delivery is a courier delivery service suitable for smaller furniture items, and most lighting & accessory items. Once the items you've ordered are ready for dispatch from our warehouse, your order will be dispatched on a next day service.

This service does not include delivery into the property, assembly or unpacking. For larger items the driver may require assistance when unloading.

Platinum Delivery (white glove)

The delivery team will deliver your items to your room of choice and remove all the packaging for you. If required, all items will be assembled by the delivery team. Once the items have been received into our warehouse and are ready for delivery, our delivery team will be in touch to arrange delivery with you.

On-site installation is regrettably not available for lighting products or wall mounted goods such as, but not limited to shelving, mirrors, and pictures.
