Defined by layered geometry and compact proportions, the Iren desk by Poltrona Frau introduces architectural order to bedroom workspaces, creative studios, and transitional zones. Designed by Kensaku Oshiro, its two-tiered structure creates visual depth, anchored by a fixed L-shaped surface that grounds the piece with sculptural intent.

Crafted in Italy from beech plywood with ash edging, the lower surface features a recessed compartment for essentials. The upper top slides on concealed guides, supported by a matt black lacquered metal volume that discreetly integrates an optional USB port. Iren reflects a balance of artisanal detailing and functional clarity.

MATERIALS & DETAILS

Top features two overlapping beech plywood surfaces with ash edging. The fixed, L-shaped lower top includes a recessed area for storing small objects. The slidable upper top moves smoothly along concealed guides and rests on a matt black metal box, which also offers space for two integrated USB sockets.

Mounting & Structure
This wall-mounted configuration is supported by a solid ash structure with matt black metal brackets. An optional LED wall support is available for integrated lighting.

Finishes
The top edges and support structure are offered in two ash wood finishes: wenge stain or moka stain.

Upholstery available in Pelle Frau® ColorSphere® or Saddle Extra leather, with optional tone-on-tone or contrasting edge stitching. Upholstery is fixed and not removable.

Aesthetic details include a heat-embossed Poltrona Frau logo on the lower corner of the sliding top, subtly affirming its craftsmanship and authenticity.

Optional Accessories

– Two USB sockets located on the opposite side to the direction in which the top slides
– Top lighting with an LED 3000K 10 watts/metre (fitted with an on/off button located on the left side of the solid wood support). The device will be supplied complete with universal adapter.

Kensaku Oshiro

Kensaku Oshiro was born in Okinawa, Japan, in 1977. Since 1999, after receiving a Master degree in Industrial Design at “Scuola Politecnica di Design” in Milan, he began working with several practices until 2004. He suddenly joined the design team of Lissoni Associati studio, with whom he worked until mid-2012. In the second half of 2012 he moved to London to work with BarberOsgerby.
