Elevating storage into spatial sculpture, the Ren bookcase by Poltrona Frau—designed by Neri & Hu—anchors executive libraries, gallery-like living areas, and refined home offices. The silhouette is defined by slanted birch plywood uprights, sheathed in saddle-leather and edged in Canaletto walnut veneer, evoking the Chinese ideogram “ren” for human connection.

Open shelves, supported by brushed steel brackets in natural brass, accommodate optional trays and bookends to adapt functionality. Joinery is concealed within the architectural rhythm of each vertical, reinforcing the bookcase’s quiet precision. Ren articulates a dialogue between Eastern philosophy and Italian craftsmanship through materially rich, sculpturally balanced design.

MATERIALS & DETAILS

Upholstery available in Saddle Extra leather with delicate handmade markings or Pelle Frau® ColorSphere® leather with visible stitching, offered in tone-on-tone or contrasting thread.

Structure crafted from shaped solid Canaletto walnut sides and crosspieces, combining refined aesthetics with structural integrity.

Shelves made from birch plywood with Canaletto walnut veneer, supported by discreet feet with adjustable black plastic tips.

Details include brass-finished metal elements treated with a transparent matt coating. On the low bookcase version, a circular decorative element in Canaletto walnut veneer is attached to the upper crosspiece with a brushed steel hook and brass-painted finish.

Configurations:

High and Low bookcases differ in height, width, and number of shelves.

Wall anchorage is required for both models to ensure stability.

This product is made to order in the Poltrona Frau factory in Italy especially for you, with a production time of 6 - 8 weeks, therefore please expect delivery within 8 - 10 weeks from the date of order.

Delivery options: United Kingdom

Standard Delivery (courier)

Standard Delivery is a courier delivery service suitable for smaller furniture items, and most lighting & accessory items. Once the items you've ordered are ready for dispatch from our warehouse, your order will be dispatched on a next day service.

This service does not include delivery into the property, assembly or unpacking. For larger items the driver may require assistance when unloading.

Platinum Delivery (white glove)

The delivery team will deliver your items to your room of choice and remove all the packaging for you. If required, all items will be assembled by the delivery team. Once the items have been received into our warehouse and are ready for delivery, our delivery team will be in touch to arrange delivery with you.

On-site installation is regrettably not available for lighting products or wall mounted goods such as, but not limited to shelving, mirrors, and pictures.

Click & Collect

Once your order has arrived in our warehouse, and the item(s) have been quality checked, we will contact you to let you know your order is ready for collection. Please remember to bring proof of purchase with you, such as your order confirmation email.
