The Chester Armchair by Poltrona Frau epitomises classic elegance and superior craftsmanship. Its journey began when Renzo Frau, inspired by the distinguished Chesterfield sofas of London’s elite clubs pre-Great War, decided to bring this style to Italy. In 1912, Frau’s own version of the Chester was born, crafted with meticulous care and enhancements that continue to this day.

More than a mere seat, the Chester Armchair is a historical gem, first featured in Frau’s 1912 catalogue. Drawing inspiration from the refined interiors of Edwardian England, it stands as a Poltrona Frau icon with its unique pleated armrests and hand-executed capitonné leatherwork.

MATERIALS & DETAILS

This armchair boasts a supporting structure made from seasoned beech wood, with a suspension system of biconical hand-tied steel springs attached to jute belts. The backrest and armrests are padded with hand-shaped vegetable horsehair, while the seat uses rubberised horsehair and has polyurethane foam and goose down-filled seat cushions. It’s upholstered in Pelle Frau® leather, available in ColorSphere® (SC), Heritage, Nest, Soul, and Velvety options. The upholstery is non-removable. Aesthetically, the backrest and armrests display a handmade capitonné design, and the external back is elegantly finished with a row of leather-covered tacks.

This product is made to order in the Poltrona Frau factory in Italy especially for you, with a production time of 6 - 8 weeks, therefore please expect delivery within 8 - 10 weeks from the date of order.

Delivery options: United Kingdom

Standard Delivery (courier)

Standard Delivery is a courier delivery service suitable for smaller furniture items, and most lighting & accessory items. Once the items you've ordered are ready for dispatch from our warehouse, your order will be dispatched on a next day service.

This service does not include delivery into the property, assembly or unpacking. For larger items the driver may require assistance when unloading.

Platinum Delivery (white glove)

The delivery team will deliver your items to your room of choice and remove all the packaging for you. If required, all items will be assembled by the delivery team. Once the items have been received into our warehouse and are ready for delivery, our delivery team will be in touch to arrange delivery with you.

On-site installation is regrettably not available for lighting products or wall mounted goods such as, but not limited to shelving, mirrors, and pictures.

Once your order has arrived in our warehouse, and the item(s) have been quality checked, we will contact you to let you know your order is ready for collection. Please remember to bring proof of purchase with you, such as your order confirmation email.
